Club for Growth Endorses Steve Scalise for Congress
Steve Scalise was endorsed by the conservative group Club for Growth today. The Club for Growth is an organization that supports legislative action on economic growth through tax cuts and less government.
"The Club for Growth's philosophy is right in line with my own fiscally conservative
beliefs, and I'm honored to receive their endorsement." Scalise said. "Putting money back in the
pockets of consumers by lowering taxes is the best way to grow our economy. As Congressman I will fight to make the Bush Tax Cuts permanent and work to reduce Washington's wasteful
spending habits. I also plan to file legislation implementing comprehensive earmark process."
Club for Growth President Pat Toomey said, "Steve Scalise has a strong record of
fighting for lower taxes and less government, and we are confident he will continue that strong
record if elected to Congress. Steve Scalise is exactly the kind of representative Louisiana
taxpayers need in Congress."
Scalise is the only candidate in the race who voted against breaking the Constitutionally
mandated state spending cap when Gov. Blanco added $1.2 billion in new, recurring spending to
the state budget in 2007.
Club for Growth joins Gun Owners of America as the second nationally recognized
conservative group to endorse Steve Scalise in the last two weeks. Scalise has also received
recognition from the Louisiana Right to Life Federation for having a 100% prolife voting record
and has been named "Outstanding Family Advocate" three times by the Louisiana Family
