Musgrave Reaction to State of the Union Address

Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave released the following statement in response to tonight's State of the Union address:

"It is vital that we fix the broken system in Washington, lay aside petty partisan bickering and provide the leadership that these circumstances demand. While many of the President's ideas, such as stimulating the economy, a reduction of federal spending and expansion of health benefits for military families are good, they will be nothing more than words if we fail to work together. This is not a time for more words, but a time for action."

"The conduct of Congress in the days to come will be crucial in our endeavor to provide real solutions for our constituents. I urge my colleagues to follow the recent examples provided by The White House, Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Boehner and work together to solve the problems facing middle class Americans. We cannot in good conscience, ask for the confidence of the American people and continue to let party factions stand in the way of good government."
