Issue Position: Valuing Life

What We Value is Who We Are

Societies can be measured by how dearly they value human life. America became great because protecting the right to life was embedded in the foundation of our culture.

The very first principle laid out in our Declaration of Independence is that all men are created equal, that we are endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights, and that first among those rights is life. The role of government is to ensure that each life, whether young or old, born or unborn, independent or vulnerable, is valued and protected.

The right to life is not something that begins or ends at our time of choosing. Rather, this unalienable right begins at conception and ends at natural death. I oppose abortion, because I believe it is the taking of human life.

Adoption is a wonderful alternative to abortion. There may be unwanted pregnancies in this world, but there are no unwanted children. Adoption not only allows a mother to choose life, it gives a child a chance for a better life in a loving home. The parents who open their homes to these children represent the very best of the American spirit, and the mothers who make this life-saving choice are true American heroes.

I will continue to fight for the protection of innocent human life and condemn acts or policies that destroy human life - regardless of age, health, sex, race, or stage of development. I am committed to providing a voice to those who are voiceless and doing all I can to ensure that each life is treated with the dignity it deserves.
