INHOFE STATEMENT ON ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE
U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today made the following statement after casting his vote against H.R.5140.
"The final version of this bill will do little to improve the state of the U.S. economy, as any true stimulus plan should permanently extend the President's tax cuts. No other amendment, initiative, or proposal could have the same positive impact on our economy as setting these vital tax cuts in stone. Sadly, Senate Democrats did not allow further opportunities to improve this legislation. Our economy and the future of so many Oklahoma families struggling to pay their mortgages, find jobs, and make their lives better is too important to allow politics to get in the way of progress. A viable stimulus package should plan for long-term economic growth rather than short-term political gain."
