McKeon Statement Following Today's March for Life

Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA) released the following statement Tuesday regarding the 35th annual March for Life:

"More than 200-thousand Americans marched on Washington, D.C. today to pledge their unwavering commitment to the protection of innocent human life and the quest to see Roe v. Wade overturned.

"While we have seen much progress over the past 35 years, most recently by passing a ban on partial birth abortion, there is still much to do. Until we see a reversal of the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion on demand, the fight must continue and the horrific effects of abortion must be mitigated.

"I commend the men and women, mothers and fathers who traveled across the country to be here today to celebrate life and to draw Congressional attention to such a noble cause."

Last year, McKeon co-sponsored H.R. 618, The Right to Life Act, which declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being. It also defines "human being" to encompass all stages of life, including but not limited to the moment of fertilization or cloning.
