Landrieu Comments on Mukasey Confirmation to be Attorney General

United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today commented on Judge Michael B. Mukasey's Senate confirmation as Attorney General.

Sen. Landrieu said:

"Judge Mukasey has strong credentials to be the top law enforcement official in our nation. This confirmation gives us hope that we will have an attorney general interested in looking out for the American people, rather than the interests of the Administration's party.

"This will be a welcome change in leadership at the Justice Department. I look forward to working with Judge Mukasey to combat crime in New Orleans, fight insurance fraud along the Gulf Coast and ensure we are giving proper focus to civil rights cases."
