Rep. Schwartz Supports Veterans Suicide Prevention Bill

U.S. Representative Allyson Y. Schwartz today voted in support of the Joshua Omvig Veterans Suicide Prevention Act (H.R. 327). This plan will require the Veterans' Affairs (VA) Department to address and reduce the incidence of suicide among our veterans. It will now be sent to the President to be signed into law.

"As more soldiers return from their tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, we have a responsibility to ensure that the VA is prepared to provide them with the best possible care, including screening and treatment for mental health disorders. This legislation is an important first step towards addressing the grave voids in access to these critical medical services, and helping veterans get the care they need."
