The Gazette - Richardson on Time, Starts with Iraq
VINTON With less than 60 days left until the Iowa caucuses, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson did everything he could to differentiate himself Saturday from the other presidential hopefuls.
He accomplished this before 100 or so people at the Java Alley in Vinton even before he opened his mouth. He was on time.
"The first thing I want to recognize: How about a politician on time, huh? 8:30 a.m.," he said.
Immediately, Richardson tackled Iraq, saying the other Democratic presidential hopefuls have all proposed worthwhile plans for decreasing American involvement in that country but none are as direct as his plan.
"Get all our troops out, out, out," he said. The other hopefuls would "leave troops behind. Mine is clear. I get them all out within a year."
