Levin Statement on President's Veto of Water Resources Bill

"The President's decision to veto the Water Resources Development Act is the wrong one. This crucial legislation, seven years in the making, will help repair and upgrade America's water infrastructure, help restore the Great Lakes and other ecosystems, and protect Michigan's waterways from the pollution of combined sewer overflows. Great Lakes shippers and businesses dependent on shipping need expedited dredging to address the backlog of projects. The Great Lakes region is also counting on a completed dispersal barrier to stop invasive species such as the voracious Asian carp from entering the lakes. I am hopeful that the Congress will successfully override the President's veto and authorize these important programs."
