from the Office of Senator Bob Corker
U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) made the following statement after voting against the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill, which contains a $5.35 billion increase in federal spending over the fiscal year 2007 bill.
"While I strongly support the mission of many of the programs included in this bill, I simply couldn't support the spending increases," said Corker. "This enormous spending bill contains over 1,000 earmarks and spends over $5 billion more than last year. It is time we set priorities to effectively fund these agencies and programs at a level that is within our means."
The bill passed the Senate late Tuesday.
