Location: Huntsville, AL

U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) joined Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees at the Huntsville International Airport to celebrate TSA's Fifth Anniversary in North Alabama.

"TSA employees have the complex task of maintaining order throughout the airport, while calming anxious passengers," said Cramer. "This job is not easy, but the way in which our airport employees handle themselves, especially in stressful situations, is commendable and sets an example for other TSA officials across the country."

TSA assumed responsibility for security at the Huntsville International Airport in 2002. There are currently seventy-seven employees, fifty-four of whom have worked with the Agency all five years. During today's celebration, these original TSA employees received commemorative coins and certificates.

The Transportation Security Administration was created with the passage of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act in the 107th Congress. It is responsible for providing security for all modes of transportation. TSA became apart of the Department of Homeland Security in 2003.
