Rep. Scott Garrett Memorializes September 11th, 2001

On Sunday, September 9th, US Representative Scott Garrett (NJ-5) offered the following remarks to commemorate the anniversary of September 11th, 2001 at the Freedom Walk in Paramus, New Jersey:

"Six years ago today, the United States experienced a horrific tragedy when terrorists violated our borders and attacked us in the comfort of our own country. The memories of this horrible event will forever dwell in the minds and hearts of the American people.

September 11th united our nation and awakened our senses to the realization that a real threat exists; a threat which knows no bounds to their hatred for our country, our freedom and our beliefs. These people will not stop until they are stopped, and our nation must continue to proactively fight the war against Islamic terrorists to ensure that the safety of America is guaranteed for many years and many generations to come.

September 11th will also live on in our memories as a time when Americans set aside the things that divide and sought out things that unite. It was a time of great giving and compassion, a time when we renewed our sense of purpose as a nation and sense of duty to our fellow man. To the men and women who sacrificed their lives to aid others that tragic day - so many of whom came from our North Jersey family, our nation commends you for your selfless work and brave souls. And to the Americans that currently put their life on the line to fight and protect our nation here and overseas, thank you for your devotion and dedication.

Our nation needs you and we support your efforts. Continue to fight the good fight."
