Boasso: Opportunity For a New Start For Louisiana

While State Senator Walter Boasso said he wishes Gov. Kathleen Blanco well in her return to private life, Boasso also reiterated his earlier statements that the time for career politicians to run the state is long past.

"Governor Blanco's decision gives the people an even greater opportunity to effect real change in the next election," Boasso said, "instead of offering even more of the same old, same old. But what is important to realize and what the voters already know is that we cannot just change the face of the governor; we must change the policies of government."

Boasso, a successful businessman in his first term in the state Senate, formally announced his candidacy two weeks ago, and offers a different brand of leadership to the citizens of Louisiana.

"The remaining candidates are still just rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic," Boasso said. "My candidacy offers the opportunity for real change."
