U.S. Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) today urged support on the House Floor for H.R. 3311,
which would provide emergency funds to the state of Minnesota to rebuild the Interstate I-35 Bridge in
Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"This has shown us once again that with great tragedy, also comes great triumph," Rep. Kind said. "From emergency responders to fellow motorists, this disaster has displayed the human spirit at its best, and bound the people of the region together in support of the victims and their families. Now we in Congress have an opportunity to provide that same response to the people of Minnesota. That is why I strongly urge my
colleagues to support this bill that will provide the emergency funds necessary to repair and rebuild this critical bridge. Passing this bill is the least that we can do to help those affected by the events of Wednesday evening."

The emergency supplemental spending bill immediately authorizes $250 million for the repair and reconstruction of the I-35 Bridge. It passed the House today by a unanimous vote.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost friends and loved ones," Rep. Kind added. "May God help them through this unfortunate event."
