HOUSE PASSES JUSTICE APPROPRIATIONS BILL

Today the House of Representatives passed the $53.8 billion Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations for FY 2008 (HR3093). Congressman Chip Pickering announced two projects funded by the legislation in the Third Congressional District.

"Law enforcement agencies, first responders, and justice investigators need enhanced budgets to fight advanced crime techniques and threats to our communities. I'm pleased to announce this legislation will assist those needs in Meridian and Smith County," Pickering said.

Regional Counterdrug Training Academy - Meridian - $310,000

Law Enforcement Technology Funding - Smith County Sheriff's Department - $65,000
