Statement of Gov. Rick Perry on Capture of Saddam Hussein

AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement upon learning of the capture of Saddam Hussein:

"The capture of Saddam Hussein by American soldiers is a signature moment in world history. It is great news for the people of Iraq who for too long suffered under the brutal dictator, and it is a major victory over the forces of terrorism in the world. The world today is a safer place because of the leadership of President George W. Bush as America continues to stand strong in defending the principles of freedom. While Hussein's capture is a major victory, the military's dangerous work is not over. I commend the men and women of our armed forces carrying out the mission of freedom throughout the world, and my thoughts and prayers remain with them and their families."
