Cubin Welcomes Mongolian Ambassador in DC Office

U.S. Representative Barbara Cubin (R-WY) met with Mongolian Ambassador to the United States Ravdan Bold this week in an effort to strengthen international ties with the Wyoming community and discuss how a mutually beneficial relationship between the two communities could best be forged.

"It was my honor to meet with Ambassador Bold this week to discuss how our two populations can work together in the future," Cubin said. "Wyoming and Mongolia both depend on a thriving mining and agricultural industry, and consist of very similar terrain and population densities. There is a great deal we can learn from one another and I look forward to advancing our partnership."

Cubin and Ambassador Bold specifically discussed the "Mongolia-Wyoming Sister Agreement," signed by Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer and Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Lkhamsurengiin Enebish on October 31, 1995. The agreement highlights a number of ways in which Wyoming and Mongolia can lay a foundation for the promotion of economic, educational and cultural exchange. The "sister affiliation" agreement encourages a strong relationship between the state of Wyoming and the nation of Mongolia. It calls for increased mutual cooperation in the areas of industry and foreign trade as well as a free-flow of information and advanced technology in the fields of science, medicine and government.

"I have always believed that the hard working folks of Wyoming have a great deal to offer not only the rest of the country, but the world, " Cubin said. "By increasing our interaction with foreign countries and markets, particularly countries like Mongolia that share such similarities to our State, we have the ability to develop trade relationships, share technologies and provide our children with a greater scope of the world around us."
