Solis Statement on Senate Vote to Blocking Immigration Reform

Today, Congresswoman Hilda L Solis (CA-32) issued the following statement on the Senate's failure to reach a compromise on comprehensive immigration reform:

"I am extremely disappointed by the Senate's decision to block a vote on comprehensive immigration reform for the second time. This morning's vote indicates that Republicans walked away from reforming a flawed system. Their decision to block reform is a decision to turn their backs on immigrants, their families, and our nation's security.

"However, I am grateful to Sen. Harry Reid for his strong leadership and good faith effort to bring parties to the table in search of much needed reform for our nation's broken immigration system.

"Immigration reform is one of the most important challenges that our nation faces. Despite the Senate's failure to pass immigration reform, we must continue to search for a comprehensive solution which strikes the right balance between the prioritization of family reunification, enhanced border security at the border, and earned legalization."
