SHAWNEE HEALTH SERVICES RECEIVES HHS GRANT

U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Shawnee Health Services, located in Carterville, has been awarded a $697,740 Black Lung Clinic grant by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funds will be used to implement Black Lung treatment programs.

"Black Lung is a debilitating disease that affects many coal miners," said Costello. "The effects of this disease would be much worse in our region without the dedicated professionals that provide great health care services which this funding helps make possible. I will continue to work to make sure that rural areas of the country have access to quality medical care."
