LoBiondo Hails Death of Senate Amnesty Legislation
After a crushing 46-53 vote today on the pro-amnesty immigration legislation in the U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) today issued the following statement:
"For the past few months, the U.S. Senate has continued to ignore the clear and vocal views of the American people by promoting legislation that would grant automatic legal status to the estimated 12 million individuals who illegally entered our country and continue to break our laws to remain here. I have long said that I would be the first to vote against any such amnesty legislation should it be presented to the House of Representatives. Today - finally - the Senate has realized that the pro-amnesty agenda of a few cannot and should not be forced upon the vast majority."
"However, this legislation's rightful failure does not end the necessity for real reform of our current immigration system and the critical need to enforce existing laws. I strongly support the border security bills signed into law during the previous Congress and believe that we must provide the necessary resources to ensure our nation is secured first and foremost."
