For Immediate Release
"I am pleased to have the opportunity to send my heartfelt congratulations to Jim and Sarah Brady as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the landmark Brady Law. At the time the Brady Bill was introduced, it was hard to find anyone who believed it could pass. Very few people believed it was possible to take on the NRA and win. But Sarah and Jim Brady had conviction, courage and hope. They never listened to the skeptics and they never gave up.
"I was proud to be one of the 11 cosponsors of the original Brady Bill in 1987. And I am proud to have stood with Sarah and Jim Brady and with law enforcement in fighting for its passage.
"This is one of those issues where leadership from The Presidency really matters. America needs a president who chooses leadership over special interests. I am proud to have been part of Sarah and Jim Brady's campaign for common sense gun safety laws. Now we need to carry the fight to the White House and restore common sense on gun safety to the Oval Office."
