Dubuque Telegraph Herald - Tommy Thompson Emphasizes Solutions
Considered an innovative state leader who set precedence establishing welfare-to-work, health insurance for uninsured families and education programs, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson says he is still an idea man who can move America forward.
Campaigning to become the Republican candidate for president, Thompson told the Telegraph Herald on Thursday that his experience as a governor who became the head of the nation's health agency gives him advantage as a candidate.
"I have solutions and a knowledge base that none of the others have," Thompson said, discussing his proposals on issues that included Iraq, a national health care plan, Social Security, Medicare and border security.
