Memorial Day Statement by Rep. Radanovich
Congressman George Radanovich (R-Mariposa) today released the following statement honoring our veterans.
"Thank you for joining me this Memorial Day to honor the truest heroes our nation knows. The men and women who have fought and died for our country deserve our highest appreciation, gratitude and respect. Without these brave souls we wouldn't be able to enjoy the freedoms we do today."
"This Memorial Day is particularly poignant because as we speak service members are overseas protecting us from the evils of terrorism. Their actions are a daily reminder of the noble cause our country has undertaken, and we have tasked the best our country has to offer to accomplish this goal. America is currently engaged in a war of ideologyfreedom versus oppression. It is a war we must winone worth fighting and dying for."
"Ronald Reagan once said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same."
"For over 200 years American military men and women have helped keep freedom from extinction. From the first battle of the Revolutionary War, where America took a stand against tyranny, to the continuing operations in the Global War on Terror, our service members have valiantly kept the forces of oppression, hatred, and injustice at bay."
"Today, we remember those who perished in these struggles and thank them for their selfless protection of our liberties. Their sacrifice has allowed another generation of Americans to live freely; to express our will and desires as we see fit without the fear of being silenced."
