600 NEW JOBS IN MADISON COUNTY: Today Comcast announced plans for an "advanced solutions call center" to open in August in Madison County to bring 600 new jobs to the area. Congressman Chip Pickering said in a statement, "Comcast began in Mississippi and over the years has continued its partnership with the Magnolia State. Comcast will bring 600 good, high-paying jobs to central Mississippi. This provides an example and model to others that Mississippi has the infrastructure, quality of life, and workforce necessary to accommodate any company looking to move or expand their facilities." Chip Pickering's father, retired Judge Charles W. Pickering Sr. (now an attorney with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz in Jackson) was the first counsel for Comcast in Mississippi after it was founded in 1963 in Tupelo. "Comcast will provide a new generation of Mississippians safe, high-paying, and reliable jobs and contribute to an enhanced quality of life for our communities," Pickering concluded. Individuals interested in learning more about the job opportunities with Comcast should visit their web mage www.comcast.com/careers to get details.

SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently presented its annual "Spirit of Enterprise" award to Chip Pickering for his strong voting record on business issues. The award is given annually to members of Congress based on key business votes and this year Pickering compiled a 100% score bringing his lifetime score to 93%. "Rep. Pickering proved to be a valuable ally to the business community last year, supporting measures to stimulate job creation and spurt economic growth," Tom Donohue, Chamber president and CEO said.
