Welch responds to President's veto

Rep. Peter Welch issued the following statement in response to President Bush's veto of legislation which includes a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq:

"This veto only further alienates the President and his failed policy. While the President maintains an open-ended commitment to refereeing a civil war without end, Congress must continue to pressure the President to change his course. The American people want this war to end and they want this Administration held accountable. Congress sent a bill to the President which would set a timeline to bring an end to this war, but regrettably he has rejected the will of the American people and of Congress."
