SUBJECT: ENERGY BILL
SEN. SANTORUM: Good morning.
And we are here today to express our deep disappointment that a bill that was going to-still has the potential to create thousands of new jobs, to stimulate this economy, to decrease our dependence on foreign sources of energy, to increase our national security, to increase our economic security, a bill that was put together through great bipartisan effort and bicameral effort to come up with a bill that has effect across this country, from the southeastern part of the United States all the way up to Alaska and certainly everything in between, to my area of the country, the coal region, to the grain belt, all looking for sources of energy to be able to make our country more energy secure, and to create jobs here in America as opposed to importing sources of fuel from jobs being created all over the world-this is a sad day here for those who want to see this economy recover and jobs be created.
And I just want to turn it over to the chairman of the Energy Committee, who has done a Herculean job crafting this legislation and making this a reality. And if I know Pete Domenici, he ain't done yet.
