REP. SUSAN DAVIS AND SAN DIEGO ACTIVISTS JOIN TO COMBAT GLOBAL WARMING
Congresswoman Susan Davis called for an 80% reduction in global warming emissions by 2050. Davis teamed with the Surfrider Foundation and San Diego environmental activists at the Ocean Beach Pier to highlight the need for action on global warming.
"Reducing greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2050 is not only an obtainable goal - it is an imperative one," said Rep. Davis. "The science is clear about an uncertain future if we don't cut global warming pollution. We cannot allow our children to inherit this crisis when we have the ability to make a difference right now."
Davis is a cosponsor of the Safe Climate Act of 2007 (HR 1590).
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has put a June deadline for legislative action on global warming. Several committees in Congress have held hearings on how to address the issue.
"Our nation can - and must - become a leader in finding clean energy solutions to provide a safer climate for this generation and generations to come," concluded Rep. Davis.
