Pence Statement on British Troop Announcement

PENCE STATEMENT ON BRITISH TROOP ANNOUNCEMENT

U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, ranking member of the Middle East and South Asia Subcommittee, issued the following statement today on British Prime Minister Tony Blair's announcement regarding British troops in Iraq:

"The departure of some British forces from Iraq should give hope to millions of Americans that it is possible to win and come home. As I saw firsthand, Al Basra is a success because of the dedication of British forces and the determination of the Iraqi civilian leadership. Throughout the War on Terror, Great Britain has proven herself again to be America and freedom's most devoted friend."

Congressman Pence has made four trips to Operation Iraqi Freedom, including a tour of Al Basra and southern areas within British control.
