STATEMENT OF SENATOR EDWARD M. KENNEDY ON BOB GRAHAM'S RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

I'm saddened by Bob's decision. He's done an outstanding job for many years in the Senate for the people of Florida and the nation. It's been a privilege to work closely with him on many issues in health care and especially in recent years on prescription drug coverage for the elderly. Many of us in the Senate admire Bob as "Senator Medicare," and our best farewell gift to him would be to pass that long-pending legislation now as a bipartisan tribute to his leadership.
