Statement from the Governor: On PEIA Finance Board's Pending Decision On Changes In Retiree Health Coverage

Gov. Joe Manchin tonight issued the following statement on the Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA) Finance Board's pending decision relating to changes in retiree health care coverage. The PEIA Finance Board will meet to discuss the issue on Wednesday, Dec. 20:

"As the PEIA Finance Board prepares to meet tomorrow to consider changes in continuing health care coverage for the state's retirees, I want to personally thank those who have been a part of this process and the statewide discussion on this important issue. We must act in a responsible manner to ensure that those who have dedicated their careers to public service receive the good quality health care that they have earned and deserve. It has always been my belief that we must respond in a most compassionate manner in addressing the concerns and needs of the citizens of our state. I am confident that the PEIA Finance Board will make a decision that is responsible for both the state and its retirees, who depend upon this critical health care coverage."
