STATEMENT OF U.S. SENATOR DICK DURBIN REGARDING BARACK OBAMA

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) made the following statement after fellow Illinois senator, Barack Obama, announced he was forming an exploratory committee to seek the Presidency:

"Today's announcement is the first step in a long journey to the White House."

"Barack Obama brings to this race a promise of reconciliation and a feeling of hope that America desperately needs."
