INHOFE SADDENED BY NICKLES' DECISION

WASHINGTON-U.S. Senator James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.) released the following statement today in response to Senator Don Nickels' (R-Okla.) announcement that he would not seek reelection in November 2004.

"Anyone who knows Don is familiar with the tremendous amount of thought, prayer, and reflection he devoted before making his decision," Inhofe said. "This is an incredibly personal and difficult choice for my colleague as I know he has truly enjoyed serving the Great State of Oklahoma and the nation.

"Don's unprecedented 23 years of accomplished service to this institution is respected by all of us in Oklahoma and Washington D.C. We have been fortunate to have such a strong leader and while Oklahoma may have lost one of its leaders,
I have lost my brother."
