Landrieu Honors America's Veterans
In honor of Veterans' Day, United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today visited with wounded troops who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
"On the anniversary of the ceasefire of World War I, Armistice Day, we honor America's veterans, the defenders of our freedom," Sen. Landrieu said. "Veterans' Day 2006 falls while our nation is at war. Our soldiers fighting in the Middle East follow in the honorable footsteps of our war veterans throughout American history -- the great men and women who have served and protected our nation in every conflict since our founding.
"We as a nation are forever grateful for their sacrifices. Our veterans have put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of the American people and the safety of people all over the world."
