Chafee captures endorsement of Human Rights Campaign

Hailing his moderate voice and his steadfast support of personal liberties, the Human Rights Campaign enthusiastically endorsed U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee in his bid for re-election. The Human Rights Campaign is a national organization committed to achieving equal rights for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.

"I want to thank the Human Rights Campaign for their support," said U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee. "I have been a tireless advocate for important civil rights legislation. I believe that government has an obligation to ensure that individual liberties are defended and to that end I have opposed the federal marriage amendment, advocated for anti-hate crime legislation, and supported legislation that prevents discrimination in the workplace. Human beings, regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation have a right to be treated equally. I will continue to ensure that important civil liberties are protected."
