Corker: Ford Vote Allowing Liberal Judges to Release Prisoners Due to Jail Overcrowding Contrary to Tennessee Values, Simple Common Sense
Key Statewide Law Enforcement Officials serve on Corker Law Enforcement Leadership Council
Saying Washington Congressman Harold Ford's vote to allow liberal judges to release prisoners from jail because of conditions like overcrowding "does not reflect Tennessee values or simple common sense," GOP Senate candidate Bob Corker today said Tennesseans want and deserve a U.S. Senator who exercises solid, consistent judgment on key votes such as this.
"Voting to allow liberal judges to release prisoners from jail because of overcrowding, for example, does not reflect Tennessee values, and it certainly doesn't reflect simple common sense," Corker said, while accepting the support of a strong coalition of statewide law enforcement officials. "It's wrong to place the rights of criminals above public safety - and that's exactly what Harold Ford did in this instance. What possible rationale could Congressman Ford offer to explain this vote?"
