Pelosi: Bush's Failed National Security Policies Have Failed to Make the American People Safer
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on President Bush's remarks on North Korea and Iraq today at a press conference at the White House:
"From North Korea to Iraq, the American people have seen clearly what it means to stay the course with the President's failed national security policies. After six years of ineffective diplomacy by the Bush Administration, North Korea followed multiple tests of various types of missiles by conducting an apparent test of a nuclear weapon, and threatened to test more. In Iraq, with American forces continuing to suffer high rates of casualties, the Chief of Staff of the Army announced today that he is planning for 140,000 U.S. troops to remain in the country for at least four more years.
"The President's policies are not making the American people safer. Staying the course won't change that. It's time for a new direction."
