Boehner Statement on House Passage of Chabot Private Property Rights Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today praised House passage of the Private Property Rights Implementation Act (H.R. 4772), authored by Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH):

"When federal, state, and local governments make decisions that impact basic property rights provided by the Constitution, Americans should have full and open access to federal courts to pursue their claim. Congress has the responsibility to protect the Constitutional rights of every American and every citizen should be able to challenge a local government that has abused the eminent domain process. This legislation is an important step in the right direction of safeguarding property rights of Americans and I commend Rep. Chabot for his hard work on this legislation."

Boehner represents Ohio's Eighth Congressional District, which includes all of Darke, Miami, and Preble counties, most of Butler and Mercer counties, and the northeastern corner of Montgomery County. He was first elected to Congress in 1990.
