Governor Proclaims Monday "A Day of Remembrance" In Honor of 5th Anniversary Sept. 11th Attacks

Directs Flags on State Buildings Be Flown at Half-Staff

Gov. John Lynch has proclaimed Monday "A Day of Remembrance" in honor of the 5th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

"This Monday marks the fifth anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on American soil. Nearly 3,000 Americans, including 10 New Hampshire citizens, lost their lives in these attacks," Gov. Lynch said. "I encourage all New Hampshire residents to take time on Monday and remember all of those lost, as well as the courage displayed by the many people who responded to the attacks."

Gov. Lynch also directed flags on state buildings be flown at half-staff on Monday in memory of those lost in the attacks.

A Proclamation

A DAY OF REMEMBERANCE
SEPTEMBER 11, 2006

WHEREAS, September 11, 2006 marks the 5th anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil; and

WHEREAS, Nearly three thousand Americans, including 10 New Hampshire citizens, lost their lives on September 11, 2001, as a result of these terrorist attacks; and

WHEREAS, In New Hampshire and across our nation, we must reflect on the tragedies of September 11, 2001 and remember those lost; and

WHEREAS, During this Day of Remembrance, let us also recognize the extraordinary heroism of that day and resilience of the American spirit;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2006 as A DAY OF REMEMBERANCE in New Hampshire, and direct that flags on state buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of those lost.

Given this 11th day of September in the year of Our Lord two thousand and six, and the independence of the United States of America, two hundred and thirty.
