April 25, 2006, Washington, DC - Today, Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC) announced their endorsement of Minnesota State Senator, Michele Bachmann in her campaign for Congress in Minnesota's Sixth District.
CWPAC is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, the sister organization of Concerned Women for America, the nation's largest public policy women's organization with more than 500,000 grassroots members nationwide.
Michele is running for the open seat created when Congressman Mark Kennedy (CWPAC endorsed) decided to run for U.S. Senate. Michele has proven she has grassroots support, as she has already garnered the greatest number of delegates in the race for the Republican endorsement. She is considered the heavy favorite for the Republican endorsement, and once the endorsement is handed down, the three other primary candidates running have agreed to drop out of the race and support Michele. The date for the formal primary is September 12, 2006.
CWPAC Executive Director Mike Mears said: "We are pleased to endorse and lend our support to Michele Bachmann. As the author and sponsor of pro-family and traditional family legislation, including a constitutional definition of marriage as between one man and one woman, Senator Bachmann has proven she will be a great conservative leader in Congress."
Mr. Mears continued, "Over the years, Michele has started a charter school, home schooled her five children and opened her home to twenty-three foster children with her husband Marcus. She and her husband are pro-life and pro-family by example, CWPAC is proud to endorse her."
CWPAC is encouraging its members to work to elect State Senator Michele Bachmann and give Minnesota Sixth District voters, a pro-family, pro-life conservative they can be proud of.
