Our intelligence services need the freedom to conduct covert operations without excessive scrutiny or criticism of their techniques to obtain intelligence that may save the lives of thousands and possibly millions of Americans. The world of human intelligence and espionage is a dangerous and dirty business filled with nefarious individuals. The intelligence community should be allowed broad latitude to conduct operations to protect the Homeland. We've all seen what happens when you have poor intelligence. Oversight should be limited to specially selected members of Congress that pass stringent security clearance requirements and have demonstrated an ability to maintain closely held secrets.
Anyone, to include politicians and members of the media, that compromise an agent of the U.S. or an ongoing operation shall be severely punished. Not just for putting the agents involved at risk, but for putting the American people as a whole at risk.
