Kerry Calls for Capka to Recuse Himself from Big Dig Investigation
Federal Highway Administrator Once Oversaw Project
After learning from Federal Highway Administration Officials that Administrator Richard Capka - the top official on the Big Dig project during part of its construction - will participate in the agency's investigation of the collapse, John Kerry today officially called on Capka to recuse himself.
"We need an independent, in depth investigation that goes back to the very beginning of the Big Dig and highlights exactly where mistakes were made step by step - nothing less. There cannot be any doubt about its impartiality. There were clearly massive failures in engineering and oversight, and everyone responsible needs to be held accountable," said John Kerry.
