Santorum "Keeps Up the Fight" for Pennsylvania with Veterans Endorsement

The National Vietnam & Gulf War Veterans Coalition Says "YES" to Santorum Leadership

Pittsburgh, PA - Today, U.S. Senator Rick Santorum told a crowd of supporters to "Keep Up the Fight" for Pennsylvania in his re-election bid to the U.S. Senate at the Green Tree Volunteer Fire Hall in Allegheny County.

"We are less than 100 days away from the election, and we need to 'Keep Up the Fight' for Pennsylvania families. I understand that protecting America is among the most important responsibilities of any elected official. I am committed to strengthening our borders, keeping America's enemies from operating within our nation and creating a future full of possibility for our children," said Senator Rick Santorum. "When I think back through my 16 years in Congress, the greatest reward has come through working with the people of Pennsylvania. The lessons I have learned from each of you have shaped my personal story, and have pushed me to champion such issues as homeland security, Social Security, welfare reform, tax reform, energy independence and farmland preservation."

Santorum also accepted the endorsement of the National Vietnam & Gulf War Veterans Coalition, which unanimously voted to endorse U.S. Senator Rick Santorum's bid for re-election. The Coalition sited Santorum's support for those who have answered our nation's call to duty, his leadership role in the fight against Islamic fascism and his advocacy of morality as key components of the endorsement. The Coalition is comprised of nearly 100 veterans groups and veteran's advocacy groups representing more than 300,000 veterans and family members.

"Rick Santorum has been a leader fighting to keep Pennsylvanians safe and secure and has walked the walk when it comes to honoring veterans for their sacrifice to protect Pennsylvania and America. We need to keep Senator Santorum in office because we have too few friends in Congress. While some are running around for photo ops, Senator Santorum is working diligently behind the scenes on behalf of veterans," said Ken Marx, National Vietnam and Gulf War Veterans Coalition. "Meanwhile, Bob Casey, Jr. is merely talking the talk, making promises with the full knowledge that he will never deliver for Pennsylvania veterans. It is so easy to pay lip service to veterans, get elected and walk away. Rick Santorum keeps his promise and tells it like it is."

Since 1995, when Senator Santorum first came to the U.S. Senate, the veterans' health care budget has increased by 86 percent, and Santorum has supported fully-funding veteran's healthcare. Additionally, Santorum pushed for scientific research, new technologies and therapies that are giving soldiers new hope for recovery, by securing $11 million for the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative, which is today helping to treat soldiers that are returning from the frontlines.
