Statement of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton Regarding Terrorist Attack in Jerusalem
This week, 20 innocent people were murdered in one of the most heinous acts of terrorism in years. Among those killed were three New Yorkers, Goldie Taubenfeld, her 5-month-old son Shmuel, and a three-year-old, Tehilla Nathanson. Like all New Yorkers and Americans my thoughts and prayers go out to their loved ones and the loved ones of all those killed or gravely injured in this senseless act of violence. Like all freedom loving people, I was horrified and deeply saddended to hear about another bus bombing in Jerusalem. Those who reject diplomacy and embrace destruction will find that all New Yorkers and all Americans stand united with Israel in staunch opposition to these acts of terror. The U.S. and the international community must demand that the Palestinian Authority immediately act to disarm these terrorist groups. As I have said before, every act of terror is an assault on freedom and democracy around the world, and we must all stand strong in defense of our democratic ally, Israel.
