The Arts

I have long been the primary advocate for state funding for Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, the Memphis College of Art's Burton Callicott Auditorium, the Blues Foundation, the Center for Southern Folklore, and the Memphis Zoo. I have served on the Boards of the Circuit Playhouse/Playhouse on the Square, and the Memphis College of Art. I believe the government has a role in encouraging the arts. I will support funding Public Radio and the National Endowment for the Arts. I will oppose censorship and First Amendment abridgement.
