Timothy Hill Agrees To Host Town Hall Truth Forum In The Tri-Cities

Hilleary accepts Bryant's offer for honest debate

Corker's refusal to debate signals intent to hide behind hypocritical TV ads

BRENTWOOD, TN Tri-Cities radio talk show host Timothy Hill today agreed to host a Town Hall Truth Forum on June 12 during his talk show, "Good Morning Tri-Cities" which will air on Tri-Cities' WPWT from 8-9 am EDT and focus on illegal immigration, abortion and other life issues, and the federal budget and current tax system. The Town Hall Truth Forums were proposed on Monday by Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ed Bryant. Van Hilleary has already agreed to appear on the Forums, the first one airing on June 6 during the "Steve Gill Mornings Show" in Nashville. So far, former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker has refused to participate in the Town Hall Truth Forums.

Television cameras and other members of the press will be allowed into the studio to report on the Town Hall Truth Forums.

"I am pleased to see that Timothy Hill will host a Town Hall Truth Forum in the Tri-Cities," stated Bryant, a former federal prosecutor and four-term Congressman. "Timothy is well-respected throughout the Tri-Cities and I know that he will ask and solicit the questions that Tennesseans want answers to. While Van Hilleary has decided to accept my offer to have a serious, straightforward debate on the issues, it's unfortunate that Bob Corker has decided to avoid engaging Tennesseans directly, and has decided to attempt to buy this election through television and radio ads.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported last week that in response to Bryant's proposal, the Corker campaign said, "We're not going to be a part of what Ed Bryant has laid out and instead are going to continue to participate in serious media-sponsored events."

"The Town Hall Truth Forums go beyond the 30-second haze of radio and TV ads and go straight to the heart of the serious issues facing our country," Bryant continued. "It's becoming increasingly clear that Bob Corker can't, or won't, tell the whole truth in his TV and radio ads about his record of raising taxes, supporting abortion rights, and increasing government spending and debt, and that he doesn't respect the voters enough to answer them directly. That attitude from a man who's seeking the voters' trust is sad and unacceptable, and I hope he'll reconsider or Tennesseans will be left to conclude his TV ad campaign is as hypocritical as they suspect."
