Nussle Sets Fundraising Records

Today, Iowans for Nussle announced the campaign has raised over $3.7 million to date - the most money raised by an Iowa gubernatorial candidate. Nussle continues his record-breaking fundraising pace with $1,195,093 in contributions received during this reporting period. That's nearly twice the amount raised by incumbent Governor Vilsack, who received $672,866 during the same period in 2002. The Nussle campaign also reported $1.5 million cash on hand.

Jim Nussle said, "As I travel the state, I meet more and more Iowans excited about my positive vision to energize Iowa's future by achieving world class education, creating jobs, making Iowa the Renewable Energy Capital of the World, providing access to affordable health care, restoring the people's trust in state government, and promoting Iowa's special quality of life. Iowans are ready for bold and innovative leadership that demands real results."

Iowans for Nussle Campaign Manager Nick Ryan said, "While the Democrats are happily spending Iowans' hard-earned tax dollars, attacking each other and grappling for an idea that resonates with voters, the Nussle-Vander Plaats campaign continues to move full speed ahead raising funds at a record-setting pace and growing our strong grassroots network of support."

No money was transferred to Iowans for Nussle from IOWAPAC or Nussle for Congress during 2005 and 2006. Iowans for Nussle was created on January 6, 2005.
