International Trade

International Trade

Free trade agreements should never put the interests of CEOs before the interests of workers. I worked for years evaluating occupational safety regulations here in southwest Ohio that are in place to make sure workers stay safe at work. Many countries overseas do not have the same level of oversight, so corporations that move factories overseas no longer need to respect laws for workplace safety and environmental protection.

The world is growing ever more inter-connected with advances in communication, transportation, and technology. International trade will help our economy by creating new markets for our products and offering cheaper goods for American consumers. However, any free trade agreement we sign must also be a fair trade agreement. We should not offer tax breaks to companies that take jobs from southwest Ohio and endanger workers abroad.
