Pelosi Statement on Republican Plans to Hold Immigration Field Hearings

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on news reports that House Republicans will hold field hearings on immigration over the next two months:

"Republicans can try to run from their record on immigration, but the American people know that it is empty talk. The responsibility for the failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform rests on Republicans.

"Everywhere Republicans run, their constituents will be reminded that it is Republicans who have failed to enact comprehensive immigration reform that secures our borders and protects the American people, and it is Republicans who have failed to enforce existing immigration laws and implement the 9/11 Commission recommendations."
