Patrick Murphy Receives Planned Parenthood Endorsement
Patrick Murphy, Democratic Nominee for Congress in Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District, released the following statement on receiving the endorsement of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Bucks County:
"I want to thank Planned Parenthood, and everyone from the 8th District, for their support for change in November. As a former prosecutor and constitutional law professor, I understand that Roe v. Wade is settled law, and that the right to privacy is absolutely guaranteed in the United States Constitution. Abortions should be safe, legal and rare - but above all it is a difficult personal decision that must be made by a woman and her doctor.
"My opponent isn't sure what he is. Two years ago he opposed abortions eve in cases of rape or incest - then changed his story under political pressure. Congressman Fitzpatrick has voted against common-sense, bipartisan legislation for family planning services and adequate health education for our young people. Congressman Fitzpatrick is out of touch with the needs of this district, and is out of sync with the needs of our country.
"We need change in our country, and that change starts here in the 8th District."
