Statement of Governor Warner on the death of Senator Omer Hirst
Governor Mark R. Warner today issued the following statement on the death of former State Senator Omer Hirst.
"I learned with great sadness earlier today that former Delegate and State Senator Omer Hirst passed away. I was fortunate enough to have met Senator Hirst nearly 20 years ago, and have always admired his leadership in the community. He played a large part in making the Northern Virginia that we know today. Senator Hirst also helped lead the effort against segregated schools in Virginia, and helped close a painful chapter in our history. My thoughts and prayers are with Senator Hirst's family".
